Texas Hunter Safety Course

Hunters, born on or after September 2, 1971, are required to complete an approved hunter safety education course.

Cost: $29.95 + $5 fee (Hunters over 17 will also pay a $5.00 Texas Parks and Wildlife Department fee).

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) Certification Requirements

Certification for Ages 17 and Older

  • Step 1: Complete the Course: Finish and pay for the course to receive a temporary Hunter Education Certificate.
  • Step 2: Print Your Certificate: Available for immediate download and printing.
  • Step 3: Get Your Permanent Certificate: Your information will be sent to TPWD, after processing you will email a link to print your permanent certificate.


Certification for
Under Age 17

  • Step 1: Finish the Online Course: You'll receive a proof of completion upon passing.
  • Step 2: Register for a Field Day Course:  Remeber to bring your proof of completion to the in-person Field Day course. Register HERE
  • Step 3: Attend the Field Day Course: Hand-on in-person practical training to accompny your online theory eduction.
  • Step 4: Earn Your Certification: After completing both parts, you’ll receive your official Hunter Education Certificate from TPWD.
